The EM61-MK2, an enhanced version of the patented EM61, is a time domain metal detector which detects both ferrous and non-ferrous objects with excellent spatial resolution. Target response is a single, sharply defined peak, facilitating quick and accurate location. A single 200 litre (55 gal.) drum can be detected at depths greater than three metres; a high power (HP) modification (see below), to increase both the sensitivity to smaller targets and depth of detection for all targets, is available.
Data from multiple time gates - three or four, user-selectable - are recorded to provide a more complete measurement of the response decay rate for improved target characterization (and discrimination). Early time gates increase the maximum depth of detection for all targets; a mid-range time gate, equivalent in position to the original EM61, offers comparison with, and continuation of original EM61 data sets.
