JCB Releases JS360 Impact-Resistant Tracked Excavator

The JCB JS360 is a heavy tracked excavator and exhibits excellent strength, comfort, safety and efficiency. The equipment is easy to maintain and weighs approximately 36 tonnes.

A closed box section revolving frame in the JCB JS360 reduces stress and boosts strength. The frame also makes the tracked excavator to resist impact damage. The engine incorporated in the excavator is an Isuzu 161 kW 6HK unit, which is extremely efficient and complies with Stage 3b and Tier 4i standards.

All JS360 excavators have undergone Finite Element Analysis with comprehensive rig and endurance testing to ensure their durability. A reinforced boom and dipper in the JCB JS360 is constructed from high tensile strength steel with internal baffle plates and single piece wrapper plates for extended life.

The JS360’s undercarriage is made of a fully-welded X-frame construction to ensure long-lasting durability in demanding applications, and the rugged upper frame offers high support and durability. In addition, the turret on the JS360 is welded to the upper as well as the lower undercarriage frames, while strong, long-lasting doors provide extra strength.

The Tier 4 Interim-compliant Isuzu engine has a power rating of 161 kW, which is 25% more than the outgoing model. The engine is quite efficient since it generates 27% more torque at low revs, when compared to the outgoing model. The JS360 includes a large 155kn bucket tearout, which makes the excavator about 12% more productive. The unique JS range quickhitch system ensures that attachment changing is quick and easy. In fact with an intuitive multifunction operation, concurrent tracking and excavating is fast and smooth. Operators can select from four operating work modes, such as Economy, Auto, Precision and Lifting modes, to customize performance to suit any application.

Hydraulic regeneration is utilized by JCB’s tracked excavators to recycle oil across the cylinders for reduced fuel consumption and rapid cycle times. Auto-idle technology automatically brings down engine speed when hydraulics is not in use. The JCB JS360 tracked excavator is safe, simple, ergonomic and easy to operate, and thus provides better productivity. Moreover, cushioned boom and dipper ends boost operator comfort, protect the machine and prevent shock loadings, while six viscous rubber mounts reduce vibration and noise. A large laminated glass roof window offers excellent visibility and a 70/30 front screen split provides a clear view of the front right track.

The JCB JS360 also includes a balanced slew as well as an electronic/hydraulic controlled slew braking. Operators can easily access function switches. Heater and climate control panels are also included, while the side unit serves as part of the immobiliser code selector. The excavator has a large luggage tray behind the operator’s seat; a spacious floor area with huge high grip pedals provides accurate and easy tracking; a sophisticated monitoring system checks inputs and functions during various working modes; and the demist/defrost feature keeps the front window clear.

The JCB JS360 tracked excavators can be serviced easily, making them efficient, affordable and highly productive. With gas-assisted cylinders, bonnets can be opened and closed easily. The service bays are wide to provide easy access. Dipper greasing intervals, 1000-hour boom and a 5000-hour oil life offer optimum uptime on these tracked excavators. Additionally, the excavators have grease points that are centralized to promote easy and safe access to high level pivots. Similarly, filters such as fuel, hydraulic oil and engine oil are also centralized.

Intercooler, hydraulic cooler and engine radiator in the JS360 tracked excavator can be serviced separately and cleaned easily since they are mounted side by side.
