Introduction

NMR Rock Core Analyzer

The 2 MHz NMR rock core analyzer (Figure 1) is suitable for the measurement of FFI, permeability, T1 distribution, T2 T2 distribution, BVI and CBW.

There are two types of probes available from Magritek. Magritek P35 probe has short TE for tight cores and shales and Magritek Q-Switched P54 probe is flexible enough for standard samples.

Magritek P35 Probe

Magritek’s P35 probe can be used for measuring T2 core values with high resolution. It is capable of resolving short T2 values of cores with tiny pores in <0.1ms with 60µs TE. The P35 offers high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and rapid measurements. The shale measurements carried out using the Magritek P35 probe is shown in Figure 3.

Magritek Q-Switched P54 Probe

The Magritek Q-Switched P54 probe (Figure 4) is specifically designed for high performance and rapid measurements of cores with 1.5” diameter. With TE values of 100µs and high SNR, the P54 probe can resolve T2 values with optional overburden up to135°C and 5000 PSI. The probe is flexible and provides 100µs echo time. Figure 5 provides the measurements obtained using the P54 probe at TE 100µs.

Specifications of the Magritek Q-Switched P54 probe are as follows:

Fully Integrated Software

All the analytical systems from Magritek have fully integrated hardware and software. The 2 MHz NMR rock core analyzer is equipped with RCA software that enables flexible standard SCAL NMR measurements such as T2 distribution, porosity and permeability.

Moreover, the data obtained from the system are presented in Excel-compatible format for value addition and custom reporting. The integrated software is user-friendly, and has s simple interface with measurement queuing and stable parameter settings.
