Fields Wear has been, as still are, the largest supplier of body armour on the African continent. In the past decade, we have produced in excess of 200 000 bullet proof vests to the South African Police, National Defence force, Correctional Services as well as local and international security companies. We are currently approaching the quarter million mark, which we predict will be surpassed during the course of 2009.
Fields Wear has ISO 9001:2000 certification by UKAS, UK, is an accredited supplier of Armscor, South Africa, as well as being accredited by the South African Bureau of Standards. These systems ensure that only the best and finest products are manufactured at our factory, and also that all our customers can enjoy excellent service.
Fields Wear is also one of the few companies who has a state-of-the-art, in-house ballistic testing laboratory for the ballistic qualification of soft aramid panels, as well as hard armour plates.
Fields Wear employs more than 500 people in its 7800m2 factory, which gives Fields Wear the capability to produce up to 20 000 bullet proof vests per month, should we be required to do so.
All of this places Fields Wear at the forefront of the ballistic protection business in Africa.
Mining clothing:
Due to the large platinum mining industry in our area, Fields Wear has also branched into the production of mining clothing, to be used above-, as well as under ground.
Fields Wear produces in excess of 200,000 of such mining coveralls per annum to, amongst others, the mining giant, Anglo Platinum, in a vast variety of styles and colours. As with all our other clothing items, our coveralls are constructed solely from mark bearing fabrics to ensure the absolute highest quality.
These fabrics can also be treated to be fire retardant, as well as acid- or water repellent, depending on the mining conditions under which these garments will most likely be used.
