The Ultima IV is a sophisticated, multipurpose XRD system, which incorporates Rigaku’s patented cross beam optics (CBO) technology for permanently aligned and mounted user-selectable focusing and parallel geometries. The Ultima IV is capable of performing a large number of measurements quickly.
Performance, in a multipurpose diffractometer is measured not just by how fast one performs the experiment but by how quickly it is possible to switch between different types of experiments. Optimization of experiments is done using accessories such as the D/teX Ultra high-speed position sensitive detector system, however the speed between experiments is drastically enhanced by combining the CBO and automated alignment.
The Ultima IV is the only system that incorporates fully automatic alignment. When combined with the in-plane arm and the CBO, automatic alignment capability makes it a highly flexible system for several applications. In the Ultima IV XRD system, CBO technology eliminates the time spent in switching geometries and helps routine users to run both sets of experiments without a need of reconfiguring the system and brings down wear and possible optical damage with the continuous switching process. CBO and automatic alignment integrate for the ultimate in functionality for micro-crystalline diffraction, thin-film diffraction, small angle scattering, and in-plane scattering.
