Key characteristics of rocks, reservoirs, and fluids are analyzed using benchtop NMR. The oil and water content, total volume, porosity, permeability, capillary pressure, wettability, and fluid saturation are all measured by NMR.
The GeoSpec devices enable the characterization of carbon dioxide sequestration for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) by characterizing rock cores under core flooding circumstances and high pressures. With high-pressure cells that can function at temperatures of up to 100 ºC, the GeoSpec is made to replicate the functionality of the NMR logging instruments used in laboratories.
With installations in nearly all major oil-producing companies and SCAL laboratories worldwide, GeoSpec is the industry standard desktop NMR rock core analyzer. It can handle samples ranging in diameter from ½ to 2 inches.
Without the requirement for an NMR specialist, LithoMetrix software from Integrated Green Imaging Technologies (GIT) and a wide range of peripherals serve any application from standard rock core analysis to cutting-edge petrophysics research.
Regular measurements of relaxation distributions by the GeoSpec Core Analyser 2 MHz models enable the prediction of fundamental petrophysical parameters from T₂ data, including porosity and free and bound fluid determinations. Higher field (12 and 23 MHz) models are designed for high sensitivity applications, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) that take advantage of 3D gradients and very low porosity samples.

Industry-Standard
Selected globally by academics, service providers, and oil corporations.
Unique Information
Information on fluid behavior that is not obtainable from other methods is provided by NMR core analysis.
Wide Range of Applications
Porosity can be measured, and other applications include fluid typing, capillary pressure, gas isotherms, and many more. Increase the amount coming from the core.
Comprehensive Applications Software
Specialized software from Green Imaging Technologies that is easy to use.
Three Models, to Suit All Needs
- 2 MHz to replicate the behavior of NMR logging instruments and lessen artifacts from ferromagnetic material in the samples.
- 12 MHz to shorten measurement times or improve sensitivity on samples with low porosity.
- For the most sensitive measurements on small samples, use a frequency of 23 MHz.
Software
Thorough examination using the LithoMetrix software incorporated by Green Imaging Technologies includes optional 3D imaging along with 2D maps, diffusion tests, capillary pressure, and saturation profiles.
Q-Sense Technology
To see tiny pores and increase the precision of porosity measurements, use short echo times.

Overburden Cells
For GeoSpec 2 and 12, the high-pressure P5 (5,000 psi, 1.5-inch cores) and P10 (10,000 psi, 1-inch cores) cells function up to 100 ºC. Allows experimentation with core flooding slightly below the maximum confining pressures.
Range of Probe Sizes
To optimize the accurate measurement of all core sizes, the diameter should range from ½ inch to 2 inches.
Project Database
Records all of the samples, related measurements, calibration information, and equipment performance.
Pulsed-Field Gradients Options
Permits sophisticated measurements for fluid typing, including capillary pressure, saturation profiles, and 2D data analysis.
