Raise boring machines are used in mining, especially for ventilation shafts and chutes in ore. It can only be applied if the underground gallery is available to connect the raisebit. The product sizes range from 112 kW to 600 kW installed power, the cutting diameters from 1,0 m to 6,0 m and the boring depths up to 1300 m. Aker Wirth has built the world's largest raise borer, the HG380 with an operating torque of up to 710 kNm. It holds the world record for the largest diameter raise (7,1 m) and the longest raise (1260 m).
