Aurcana Cuts Strong High-Grade Zone at Shafter Mine

Aurcana has announced that a high-grade strong zone has been cut by surface drilling carried out between mining blocks located in the "5200 area".

Cross Section, Looking North

Hole S-12-403 was specifically drilled at -80° angle oriented due East and intersected mineralization of 30 ft, including 23.37 oz/t silver. Gold is present in considerable amounts and is linked to several intervals. The high-grade zone’s core segment averages 36 oz/t over 14 ft.

Aurcana’s President, Lenic Rodriguez commented that this intersection is the highest obtained till date from the Shafter Mine and the company anticipates to intersect more high-grade mineralization, while the underground operation is ongoing.

The hole S-12- 402 drilled in vertical direction, around 180 ft towards the southern part of the hole S-12-403, including 41 oz of silver over 2 ft. The company has processed further underground and surface drill holes and will release the results later.

One half of the core from the sample intervals was kept in polyethylene sample bags and protected with a ziplock tie. Samples were dehydrated and minimized to minus ten mesh. With the help of a 30 g prepared sub-sample, fire assay with gravimetric finish identified silver.

The company has sent the samples to Nevada-based Pinnacle Analytical Laboratories. Fire Assay and gravimetric finish along with multiple element ICP-OES examined the samples.

The company has planned to produce 3.8 Moz of silver from the Shafter Silver Mine during the initial 12 months of operation. The La Negra mine, containing copper, lead, silver and lead, produced more than 1 Moz of silver during 2011 and 287,486 oz in the first quarter of 2012.
