Moly Mines Ltd (ASX,TSX:MOL) issued a statement saying that it shipped out 70,000 tonnes of ore from Atlas Iron on the bulk panama vessel Bergen Max from its Utah Point berth and loader at Port Hedland.
It was a major milestone of the successful wet commissioning of the new port. This will help the company stay on track to reach its own first shipment targets in early December.
Derek Fisher the Chief Executive Officer of Moly Mines Ltd said that this was a significant event for the new iron ore miners of the Pilbara region and for Western Australia. The contract for the Spinifex Ridge Project which would include ore haulage of one million tonnes had been awarded to Bullbuck Pty Ltd.
The company statement mentioned that the stockpile will be built up over the course of November for the first shipment of Spinifex Ridge ore in early December. Bullbuck has been in operation in the region of Port Hedland for over 13 years. They have provided road haulage services to remote mining location all over the wider Pilbara region. They are currently providing haulage services to Consolidated Minerals and Aditya Birla Minerals.
