Northern Gold Mining Reports 30,000 Meter Drilling Results from Garrison Gold Property

Northern Gold Mining Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NGM) has announced assay results for three new diamond drill holes in its ongoing 30,000 meter drill program at the Garrcon Deposit on the Garrison Gold Property.

Results include long down-hole intervals of consistent mineralization, significant intervals of 1.5 to 2.5 g/t and a few high grade intervals. Because GAR-10-18 intersected one very high grade interval of 50.72 g/t, those results are also reported with the grade cut to 30.0 g/t.

All three holes were drilled in the Shaft Zone, described in the Garrcon Technical Report (filed on SEDAR November 5, 2010) with NQ size coring equipment.

GAR-10-17 was collared a few meters west of section line 13+00W and deviated slightly to the west according to the down hole survey, crossing into the area of section line 13+25 west. The hole was collared at a True azimuth of 160° and an inclination of -45°. The hole was stopped at a total length of 260 meters with about the last 40 meters of the hole being in the talc-chlorite-schists of the Destor-Porcupine Shear Zone. Zones of mineralization in the hole generally reflect the results seen in nearby holes GAR-09-05, GAR-09-04, GAR-10-14, GAR-85-4 and C07-04 but with slightly lower grades. The hole significantly reduces the distance between drill holes in this area, which will contribute to upgrading the resource quality here.

GAR-10-18 was collared approximately on section line 12+50 west at a True azimuth of 160° and an inclination of -45°. The down hole survey results indicate that the bottom half of the hole deviates to the west and ends up close to section line 12+75 west. The hole was stopped at a total length of 330 meters. The excellent mineralization seen in the top 60 meters of this hole, with an average grade over 59.4 meters of 1.5 g/t un-cut and 1.15 g/t cut, correlates nicely with mineralization in nearby holes C07-03 and GAR-09-03. Mineralization in this part of the hole is highlighted by a one meter intercept of 50.7 g/t. Grade from this sample interval was first reported as the average of four fire assays with gravimetric finish run on the original 300 g pulp that varied more than 50 grams from lowest to highest. The high grade and variance triggered implementation of a metallic screen analysis of all the reject material and the weighted average grade for all the assays gave the 50.7 g/t reported. The lower part of the hole appears to correlate well with mineralization at a similar depth in GAR-09-05 about 40 meters away.

GAR-10-21 was collared approximately on section line 10+50 west at a True azimuth of 246° and an inclination of -45°. Total length was 51 meters. This hole is located 100 meters east of much of the Garrcon drilling and was designed as a short hole to test whether stockwork type quartz veins observed in outcrop carried gold mineralization below the outcrop. The higher gold grades were encountered in drill core where the density of narrow stockwork veins increased; indicating that the veins observed at surface does host gold mineralization at depth.

GAR-10-17 and 10-18 continue to delineate new resources and reduce the drill hole spacing which will assist in upgrading the quality of existing resource categories. The GAR-10-21 mineralization will be followed up by a systematic fence of diamond drill holes early in the New Year after the systematic fence currently being drilled 50 meters to the west on line 11+00 west is completed.

"We are very pleased with the continued success of the ongoing drill program in which every hole has encountered significant mineralization," said Martin Shefsky, President and CEO. We improve the Garrcon Deposit resource with every hole, adding tonnes and ounces as well as upgrading resource quality with closer drill hole spacing."

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Northern Gold Mining Inc. has implemented a QA/QC protocol for its exploration work. Northern is currently diamond drilling the Garrison Gold Property and the drilling contractor is Major Drilling Group International Inc. Core size is NQ, to give good sample sizes and enabling the possibility for at least two step-downs if ground conditions should require it. Core is delivered to the secure Core Shack facility by the driller or picked up by one of Northern Gold's designated personnel and transported to the Core Shack facility. In addition to recovery and RQD (Rock Quality Designation), data geologic parameters including lithology, alteration, quartz veining, presence and identification of sulfide mineralization along with other geologic parameters are noted and recorded. Core is marked in one meter intervals for splitting, sampling and assaying, unless geologic data indicate a shorter sample interval. Prior to splitting, all core is photographed. Core splitting is done with a diamond core saw and ½ of the drill core is submitted to Expert Laboratories, an accredited laboratory (PTP-MAL – Accredited by Standards Council of Canada – In Accordance with ISO/IEC 43-1) in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec for assaying. The remainder of the core is stored at the Garrison Gold Property. All sample intervals where visible gold is observed to be present are automatically submitted for analysis using the metallic screen procedure where the entire half core is crushed, pulped and screened at 100 mesh. The screen oversize is assayed in total and the screen undersize is fire assayed in triplicate using a gravimetric finish. All other samples are analyzed by conventional fire assay using a 30 gram sample with geochemical finish. All samples that assay greater than one gram are re-assayed with conventional fire assay using a gravimetric finish. Conventional fire assay sample prep consists of crushing to 90% passing 10 mesh from which a 300 gram sample is split and pulped to 90% passing 200 mesh and from which a 30 gram sample is taken for fire assaying. Following completion of fire assaying at Expert Laboratories, pulp samples are forwarded by Expert to SGS Laboratories, a certified laboratory (ISO 17025), in Toronto, Ontario for CN solubility assaying and for multi-element analyses of select samples. CN solubility test uses a 1% CN solution added to 30 grams of sample and shaken for an hour prior to settling and decanting for geochemical analysis. Multi-element analysis is conducted using 4-acid digestion followed by ICP analysis with OES finish (Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy). Northern inserts a mixture of gold standard samples, blank samples and duplicate samples into the sample stream at a rate approximating 10% of total original samples. Samples are normally transported in a Company truck from the Property to Expert Labs in Rouyn-Noranda. Chain of Custody protocols require the signing and maintenance of logs and receipts each time the samples are picked up from or delivered to a new location. When utilizing commercial transportation, all shipping sacks are sealed with a numbered tag, the removal of which is recorded upon receipt by Expert Laboratories. Check analyses are conducted on a regular basis utilizing either SGS Laboratories, a certified laboratory, in Toronto, Ontario or Swastika Laboratories, a certified laboratory (PTP-MAL – Accredited by Standards Council of Canada – In Accordance with ISO/IEC 43-1) in Swastika, Ontario.
