Vanstar Mining Resources Drills at Nelligan Property

Vanstar Mining Resources has reported that a 2,500 m of drill program will commence at the Nelligan gold property, which has 92 mining cells that enclose 4,968 ha. This property is situated near Chapais in Abitibi. The company will begin the drill program during mid-March.

This property is located at the centre of the Druillette synclinal, which trends towards the east-west direction. The synclinal’s centre part includes the Coapatica formation sediments and its north and south flancs has the Obatogamau formation’s mafic volcanic rocks. The structural and geological surrounding is suitable for the formation of gold deposit that is of pyrite-tourmaline-quartz vein type or dispersed pyrite type. The Guercheville-Opawica deformation zone, which is a dominant structure in the area, is situated 5 km towards the property’s northern part.

The Chevrier deposit, the Joe Mann mine and the Philibert deposit are present in this structure. The company encountered 2.17 g/t gold over 4.4 m in hole 94-13 and 3.52 g/t gold over 10 m in hole 95-01. It discovered several magnetic and IP anomalies, during the ongoing drilling program.

The Phillibert I showing occurs in a lightly epidotized and amphibolitized gabbro. The mineralized gold along with carbonate and tourmaline is associated to a white to smoky quartz vein. It is also related with pyrite mineralization.

Abundant gold is likely to be present where the quartz vein has pyrite and tourmaline. The company previously intersected 31.06 g/t gold and 2.54 g/t silver over 1.22 m, 22.66 g/t gold over 1 m and 6.0 g/t gold over 1 m during the channel sampling program. It returned 18.86 g/t gold over 0.6 m in hole 973-02.
