Doré Copper to Perform Drilling Program at Corner Bay and Cedar Bay

Doré Copper Mining Corp., a company involved in the acquisition, exploration, and evaluation of mineral properties, has announced its preliminary drilling plans for 2020.

The company owns mineral rights and has options for numerous deposits present in the Chibougamau mining camp located in Québec.

The aim of the preliminary drilling plans is to extend the predicted resources at Cedar Bay and Corner Bay, as well as testing the promising high-grade gold zone located at the optioned Joe Mann property. The drilling program will be initiated in the second week of January 2020.

Highlights

  • Corner Bay continues to remain exposed in all directions and drilling will target expansion of the mineralization to the south, where broad zones of high-grade copper such as 4.11% Cu over 6.6 m and 3.45% Cu over 13.3 m were intersected during a 2018 drilling program.
  • Drilling at Cedar Bay will target expansion of the high-grade 10-20 zone, where a 2018 drilling program intersected 2.4 m of 15.4 g/t Au and 4.54% Cu and also 2.4 m of 19.5 g/t Au and 1.7% Cu, and testing the main vein at Cedar Bay in-depth.
  • Joe Mann is a high-grade gold mine that will be tested along strike and down dip from the earlier mined zones to follow up on holes that were drilled in 2008 following its closure. This mine intercepted 26.6 g/t Au over 1.8 m and 1.3% and 30.3 g/t Cu over 3.02 m.

The initial 2020 drilling program will help us determine the immediate expansion potential of our known deposits at Corner Bay and Cedar Bay and drill for the first time since 2008 the down-dip potential of Joe Mann. The Corporation is uniquely positioned to extend known mineral resources of both high-grade copper and gold deposits all in close vicinity to the Corporation’s centrally-located 2,700-tpd mill.

Ernest Mast, President and CEO, Doré Copper Mining Corp.

Corner Bay

Corner Bay drilling will target expansion of the primary zone to the south along strike, where a 2018 drilling program had detected broad zones of high-grade copper such as CB-18-05: 4.11% Cu over 6.6 m; CB-18-06: 2.33% Cu over 12.3 m; and CB-18-07: 3.45% Cu over 13.3 m.

The Corporation has planned to drill six holes testing the mineralization along strike and down dip with the possibility of extending mineralization to the south.

Cedar Bay

Drilling will be resumed at Cedar Bay, where the Corporation aims to extend the resources present at the 10-20 zone. The 2018 drilling program has confirmed the presence of a high-grade zone of stacked veins, such as CDR 18-03: 2.4 m of 15.4 g/t Au and 4.54% Cu and CDR 18-02: 2.4 m of 19.5 g/t Au and 1.7% Cu, in the 10-20 zone.

The drilling program will also focus on the Cedar Bay main zone in-depth, which is located 200 m to the south-west of the 10-20 zone. Cedar Bay yielded 3.8 Mt at 3.12 g/t Au and 1.57% Cu at a depth of 675 m.

The mineralization stays exposed at the shaft level—that is, 1,100 m—with restricted drilling performed to examine the depth potential of the parallel mineralized veins.

After drilling two preliminary holes, the Corporation will drill four to six further holes using directional drilling technology, thus decreasing the overall expenses associated with drilling, increasing the number of intercepts.

Joe Mann

The high-grade Joe Mann gold mine will also be tested along strike and down dip following up on the hole EE 189B: 14.72 g/t Au over 1.2 m and 26.6 g/t Au over 1.8 m, and the hole EE-188: 1.3% and 30.3 g/t Cu over 3.02 m. In 2008, both these high-grade drill intercepts were drilled when mine operations ceased.

Follow-up work has yet to be performed on holes EE-189B and EE-188. In total, two to three pierce points will be acquired at the high-grade Joe Mann gold mine before deciding on upcoming drilling operations.

Miiken Drilling will serve as the drilling contractor for the Corporation. It is a joint venture between Chibougamau Diamond Drilling Ltd., the First Nations community of Mistissini, and the First Nations community of Ouje-Bougoumou, where both the communities are situated in the Eeyou Istchee territory.
