Vantage Drilling Signs Definitive Agreement for Aker’s Two Ultra Deepwater Drill Ships

Vantage is an international offshore drilling company focused on operating a fleet of high specification drilling units.

Vantage Drilling signs definitive agreement to offer design, construction and commissioning services in lieu of Aker Drilling for two Ultra deepwater drill ships being built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, Korea.

The DSME design’s high specification drill ships will be set for dual activity operations in water depths down to 12,000 feet and with drilling depths of 40,000 feet. Additionally, Aker Drilling has options to build two supplementary drill ships at DSME.

Aker Drilling has selected the Vantage team to manage the construction projects. The drill ship, Platinum Explorer has been completed and delivered successfully and also the ongoing Dragonquest drill ship construction is supervised at DSME. Vantage gains valuable drilling experience by supervising two drill ships at DSME.
