Harvest Natural Resources Announces Oil Discovery at Dussafu Ruche Marin-1 Well

Harvest Natural Resources has identified oil in the wildcat well Dussafu Ruche Marin-1 (DRM-1), which was drilled in the Dussafu Marin PSC that is located in Gabon’s offshore waters, West Africa.

The company has 66.667% interest in the Dussafu PSC and becomes the operator of the same. Harvest has spud the well in April and is currently drilling to examine the prospective of the pre-salt Dentale and Gamba structures.

The company is using the Transocean Sedneth 701 semi-submersible unit to drill the well in 380 ft of water and has drilled the 9,953 ft in the DRM-1 well vertically in the Upper Dentale structure. Samples, log estimation and pressure information show the discovery of around 55 ft of pay in an oil column of 90 ft in the Gamba Formation by the company.

Harvest will need additional technical estimation to assess the Gamba structure. The company has also planned to deepen the well to analyze the lower and middle Dentale exploration prospective and deviation to evaluate the Gamba oil discovery extension.
