OGX Discovers Occurrence of Hydrocarbons in OGX-47 Well

OGX Petróleo e Gás Participações (OGX) has discovered the existence of hydrocarbons in 1-OGX-47-RJS well’s Santonian section, in Santos Basin’s shallow waters, in the BM-S-59 block. The company has a 100% working interest in this block.

The General Executive Officer of the company has stated that this hydrocarbon discovery in the conventional reservoirs will contribute considerably for the assets development. When this new discovery combines with the former discoveries, the company will have the capability to optimize this area’s operational structure. OGX will increase the evaluation method for the numerous discoveries at this Santos Basin and improvement in the production model of this region, following the drilling program.

The company has encountered around 131 m of hydrocarbon column in the sandstone reservoirs having a net pay of around 51 m. The location of this discovery is 2.9 km from the Natal accumulation. This accumulation was identified by drilling the OGX-11 well.

The location of Maceió, the OGX-47 well, is in the BM-S-59 block and is sited around 110 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro at about 185 km of water depth. The drilling activities were started during May, 2011.
