Strait Gold Extends Copper-in-Soil Anomaly at Alicia Property

Strait Gold has reported that the new results of the soil sampling conducted at the Alicia property, Peru, have expanded the early copper-in-soil anomaly by 1,600 m towards the prominent copper mineralized zone’s eastern part. Currently, the anomaly has been expanded for 3.4 km in an east-west direction.

The company has planned this soil sampling for discovering the prospective gold-copper mineralization areas beneath the cover to the east, northeast, west and northwest of the major mineralized centre. The new values of the copper-in-soil anomaly contained 28 samples with over 500 ppm copper, which includes 20 samples with over 1,000 ppm and a high of 3,820 ppm copper. The rock chips found during the soil sample collection showed that sample locations of 60% have porphyry fragments.

The copper-in-soil anomaly is widely concurrent with geophysical anomalies, which were identified during the new aerial radiometric and magnetic surveys. Especially, the copper-in-soil anomaly is parallel with a high ratio of thorium and potassium, and is coincident partially with a magnetic high. Two geophysical anomalies have expanded in the east-west direction by means of the porphyry’s invasive centre and trend to the northern part.

Fresh geological mapping program has discovered four porphyritic intrusion stages with related mineralization and alteration over 1400 x 900 m of an outcrop region in the geophysical and geochemical anomalies.

The mineralized copper, which is strong, is connected with quartz veins and stockwork zones in the invasive centre. Potassic alteration is present as potassium feldspar and secondary biotite, and is primary among the five intrusive stages.

The characteristics of the porphyry copper deposits are the occurrence of breccias, potassic alteration, several intrusion stages and quartz vein stockworks.

The company is conducting a further comprehensive soil sampling program in the extensive soil anomaly and additionally towards the north to outline the prospective targets for the proposed drilling. It is waiting to receive a permit for the 10,000 m of drilling.
