Ivanhoe Australia Announces Drill Results from Kulthor Deposit

Ivanhoe Australia declared that it has received excellent drill results from its Kulthor deposit, which is an important source of mill feed for the Osborne Copper-Gold Project in north-western Queensland. From 2011 onwards, the company has been performing three individual drilling programs at Kulthor deposit.

The initial program includes underground drilling inside the indicated mineral resource, the second program includes infill surface drilling and is targeting to improve the inferred mineral resource, and the third drilling program includes surface drilling and is aiming to extend the Kulthor deposit to the south-east.

Assay results have been obtained for 21 of the underground drill holes. Hole UGKM0018 intersected 22 m at 2.44% copper and 132 m at 1.12 g/t gold, including 10 m at 2.78% copper and 134 m at 1.57 g/t gold; hole UGKM0019 intersected 31.6 m at 2.26% copper and 142 m at 1.78 g/t gold, including 20.6 m at 3.17% copper and 153 m at 2.63 g/t gold, and 1.1 m at 8.21% copper and 172.5 m at 0.72 g/t gold; hole UGKM0023 intersected 21.5 m at 3.04% copper and 104 m at 1.92 g/t gold, including 8 m at 4.37% copper and 110 m at 3.77 g/t gold; hole UGKM0027 intersected 14.2 m at 2.36% copper and 94 m at 0.82 g/t gold, including 12.2 m at 2.66% copper and 96 m at 0.90 g/t gold; hole UGKM0028 intersected 17.5 m at 2.06% copper and 92 m at 0.84 g/t gold, including 6 m at 2.77% copper and 94 m at 0.94 g/t gold, and 5.5 m at 2.57% copper and 104 m at 1.21 g/t gold; hole UGKM0031 intersected 9.3 m at 2.00% copper and 34.7 m at 0.95 g/t gold, including 2 m at 7.06% copper and 40 m at 3.22 g/t gold; and hole UGKM0050 intersected 22.8 m at 1.80% copper and 125.8 m at 1.11 g/t gold, including 1.55 m at 10.5% copper and 125.8 m at 2.18 g/t gold, and 9.7 m at 1.87% copper and 131.3 m at 2.15 g/t gold.

Under the second drill program, seven holes of infill drilling in the inferred mineral resource were completed. Assay results are pending for these holes. The five exploration holes validate the continuity of the Kulthor vein system along strike. Intersections recorded in these holes are as follows:

  • Hole KUD0170 intersected 10 m at 2.01% copper and 615 m at 0.74 g/t gold, including 3 m at 3.14% copper and 617 m at 1.32 g/t gold, and 1 m at 5.39% copper and 624 m at 1.08 g/t gold.
  • Hole KUD0172 intersected 17 m at 1.01% copper and 483 m at 0.57 g/t gold, including 11 m at 1.19% copper and 489 m at 0.57 g/t gold.
  • Hole KUD0173 intersected 22 m at 1.17% copper and 686 m at 0.20 g/t gold, including 1 m at 16.55% copper and 707 m at 0.15 g/t; 16 m at 0.60% copper and 721 m at 1.07 g/t gold; and 1 m at 1.70% copper and 728 m at 8.97 g/t gold.
  • Hole KUD0174 intersected 6 m at 1.11% copper and 756 m at 0.35 g/t gold, including 1 m at 4.29% copper and 761 m at 0.33 g/t gold.
