EI Systems Receives Patent-Pending Status for Web-Based Railcar Tracking Service

EI Systems has announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent-pending status for their web-based Rail Manager service. Clients use Rail Manager to track the status and location of railcars within large industrial sites and short-line rail yards.

Railcar tracking, often a very manual process, becomes a highly automated system.

EI systems' Chief Technical Officer Henry Ha reports that "bringing web-based functionality to rail yard management applications provides significantly improved features and performance and eliminates the expensive and cumbersome client-server approach. Rail Manager's patent-pending web-based design puts yard and railcar information at your fingertips and is accessible from any internet-connected PC through the company's secure servers."

Clients reduce costs and improve performance by automating a variety of rail yard documentation processes, and gain improved visibility into their yard operation for greater control and efficiency. Rail Manager® provides seamless linkages to rail yard hardware (automated railcar readers, handheld railcar scanners, load bay recorders, rail scales), interfaces to a variety of site manufacturing and financial systems, and communicates effectively with third-party in-transit railcar tracking applications. Its color-coded yard maps facilitate inventory control, product tracking and car placement decisions. Sophisticated reporting features allow users to access key business information from any location on a 24 x 7 basis.
