2012 Canadian Mineral Analysts (CMA) Conference to Kick Off September 9 at Loews Le Concorde in Quebec City

Corporation Scientifique Claisse, in collaboration with the Canadian Mineral Analysts Association, will host the 44th annual CMA Conference and Exhibition, Sunday September 9th through Thursday September 13th, 2012 at Loews Hotel Le Concorde located in the historic Old Québec district.

The conference will bring together a range of professionals from around the world who are at the forefront of the mining and mineral industry such as geologists, chemists, laboratory analysts, as well as specialists from the field of analytical chemistry and laboratory technology.

The 2012 CMA Conference offers attendees oral presentations, networking opportunities, professional forums and workshops led by industry experts. Through case studies, working demonstrations, open sessions and peer-to-peer discussions, attendees will learn about and share new techniques that will help them improve their laboratory analyses. Among the participants are Bruker AXS and PerkinElmer specialists who will deliver on September 10th a full day of practical conference workshop covering the topics of “New Advances in ICP” and “XRD/XRF Analysis for the Minerals and Mining Industry”.

The scientific program will also feature a group of distinguished experts from The Standards Council of Canada, who will conduct a panel discussion on the subject of “Mineral Analysis Laboratory Accreditation (ISO 17025)”.This will be a first for the CMA.Over the next two days, a number of key speakers, including professionals of national and international repute, will deliver oral presentations covering innovative strategies, best practices and essential topics in the field of analytical technology. Additionally, Claisse will host a tour of its facility for those who wish to learn more about sample preparation by fusion for XRF, AA and ICP analysis.

This year’s conference will also feature a broad social and cultural program and an opportunity to experience a relaxed atmosphere and the flavour of Old Québec – a UNESCO World Heritage Treasure – and its many touristic attractions.
