GTSO Rushes To Claim Billions In Discarded Minerals

GTSO Resources, the mining subsidiary of Green Technology Solutions (OTCBB:GTSO), thinks your old, unwanted iPhone is a tiny goldmine—literally. Now, the company is working to turn that waste into wealth for investors.

“The opportunities in this growing space are incalculable”

As more and more obsolete Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) products and other mobile devices are thrown out each year, the tremendous amount of e-waste that's piling up could soon represent the world's most lucrative mining opportunity. GTSO is working fast to capture its share of this multi-billion dollar industry by pursuing an ambitious urban mining initiative.

"Urban mining" is the process of stripping e-waste of the gold, silver, lithium, tungsten, rare earths and other precious materials used to build our favorite electronic gadgets. E-waste can contain precious metals in amounts up to 50 times richer than ores mined from the ground, according to a recent report from the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) and United Nations University. The value of gold and silver in e-waste alone is forecasted to reach $21 billion annually.

Though technology exists to recapture up to 95 percent of the precious metals being thrown away, only 15 percent of valuable materials are currently reclaimed from e-waste. As mineral prices soar, this represents a major opportunity for GTSO to provide new solutions to the most potentially profitable mining challenge of the 21st Century.

"Urban mining may be the only solution that can satisfy the public's growing demand for electronics in a sustainable method," said GTSO CEO Paul Watson. "The potential is amazing: factories will need to be built, processes developed, transportation and logistics worked out. Basically, a global workforce for urban mining must be created.

"The opportunities in this growing space are incalculable," he added.

Urban mining is only part of GTSO's plans to compete alongside major international corporations striving for sustainable manufacturing solutions, such as Honda Motor Company (NYSE: HMC), Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S), and Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM).
