Alexco Resource Corp. Gold prices have settles at a 14th record high in Gold Futures this month. The weak dollar and fears of inflation combined with currency debasement have pushed up silver along with gold futures.

Treasurer Wayne Swan refused to release the figures and assumptions relating to the Minerals Resource Rent Tax (MRRT) despite a Senate order. He said that to do so would damage the economy and it would be grossly irresponsible. The Gillard government is standing by the Treasury estimated of the MRRT raising $10 billion from the mining sector.
