A terminated shipping contract has cost Fortescue Metals Group US$ 3.7 million. The iron ore miner had cancelled a five year shipping contract with Armada in January 2009. The Singapore based Armada then brought arbitration proceedings against Fortescue seeking alleged damages worth US$70 million.

The 33 trapped miners in Chile will be rescued before October 15 as per the president Sebastian Pinera. He hoped to be present to see the rescue before he left for a trip to Europe later this month. He is scheduled to be in Europe between October 15 and 22.
