St. Eugene Mining Corp. said that private equity firm Churchill Natural Resources Partners had retreated from a potential bidding war with St. Eugene’s biggest share holder Claude Resources over the Tartan Lake gold mine.
Chilean President Sebastian Pinera has named a new Mining Minster after a cabinet reshuffle. Hernan de Solminachhas been appointed as the new mining minister, he was previously the Public Works Minister. Fernando Echeverria will take over the post of Energy Minister.

The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO has warned the Tanzanian government against mining for uranium and conducting oil exploration in the region known as the Selous Game Reserve. This came in response to Natural Resources and Tourism minister Ezekiel Maige announcing that about 34,532 hectares of land was to be used for a $400 million uranium mine.

Hanlong Mining Investment wants to takeover Sundance Resources. The Chinese mining company is the largest shareholder of Sundance Resources holding 18% stake in the company. In the takeover bid it has offered a price of 50 cents a share.
