Erdene Resource Development has released the preliminary drilling results from its Nomin copper-gold project in south western Mongolia.
Argentex Mining has announced further drilling results from its newly completed 2011 exploration program at the Pinguino project. This project is situated in the Santa Cruz province of Argentina.

Goldrich Mining has commenced a diamond-core drill campaign at its Chandalar gold property in Alaska. This program will examine several targets having 25 to 30 angle holes, averaging 500 ft, and a few holes up to 750 ft.

Manufacturers of a broad spectrum of high-tech products have been feeling the impact of price hikes in rare earth element-based processing materials because of the Chinese embargo in late 2010, according to the report “Rare Earths Elements In High-Tech Industries: Market Analysis And Forecasts Amid China’s Trade Embargo”.
SouthGobi Energy Resources Ltd. (SGQ.TO) has been issued a mining license for its wholly owned Mongolian operating subsidiary SouthGobi Sands by the Mineral Resource Authority of Mongolia. Shares in the company rose by 5 cents after the announcement to end up at $10.75.
The Fortescue Metals Group has decided to use robotic dump trucks in the Solomon project being planned for the Pilbara region of Australia's North West. Andrew Forrest’s company will have an automation rollout in Western Australia that is larger than the one operated by rival company Rio Tinto.
The Chinese are worried about the mining reforms that Australia is planning. With the proposed mining tax coming up the Chinese diplomat Ouyang Cheng warned it would be difficult for Australia and China to maintain a healthy and steady economic co-operation unless reforms to foster Chinese investment were made.
