Mining Activities of Reddy Brothers in India Questioned
In India the supposed illegal mining activities of brothers, Karnataka State Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy and Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy, were questioned by the Governor H R Bhardwaj in a public statement today.
Without naming them directly the Governor questioned the continuance of Ministers in the government who had corruption charges against them. The Governor, Mr Bhardwau is expected to meet Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday.
In response to reporters' questions G Karunakara Reddy said that if the Governor has made such a statement publicly, the brother will initiate legal action against him.
The Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday said there was no question of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Reddy brothers mining operations. The task was being handed over to the Lokayukta (Ombudsman) who would look into the matter.
The opposition leader from the Janta Dal and the Congress have been demanding a CBI inquiry against the BJP party Reddy brothers.
