Discovery Ventures Announces Drilling Program at La Sarita Project in Mexico

Discovery Ventures has announced that work is in progress at its La Sarita project in Sonora Mexico. The work phase comprises a 3D IP (induced polarization) survey to describe diamond drilling, underground and surface sampling, and sub surface geological formations.

The La Sarita project includes copper-silver mineralization more than 2.4 km of strike length and also indicating 100 to 500 m of depth.

This project includes significant small-scale artisanal type mining processes, which was performed during late 1800s through surface and underground workings. La Caridad and the Cananea are the two large-scale copper mines located in Sonora mines. The Cananea mine, which is 90 mi north-west of La Sarita, is one of the world’s major open pit mines and was opened in 1899 and it is one of the oldest mine in North America. La Caridad is located 35 mi north of La Sarita. It has a copper mine, concentrator and smelter, rod plant and refinery.

The close location of La Caridad Mine becomes significant in the expansion of Discovery Ventures’ La Sarita project.
