Altan Nevada Minerals has announced that it has completed drilling at the Radar gold-silver project situated in Nye and Mineral Countries, Nevada. The company has also commenced a trenching program at the Montelle gold project in Lyon County, Nevada.
Four holes measuring a total of 1,949 m were drilled for diamond during the first phase of drilling. All the four holes revealed geophysical anomalies in a small area of the project. For the hole RA-003 copper, arsenic and molybdenum was encountered below a depth of 261.82 m. Pyrite occurred at a frequency of 5%-15%. Though a major part of sulphur was disseminated, it appeared in small concentrations. The presence of a higher range of elements such as 50-60 ppb Au, 30-70 ppm Mo and 80 ppm Ag indicates that concentrations of precious metals with high sulfidation epithermal systems are located very close. Five more prospective geophysical targets with low level Au+ Ag are yet to be drilled. Any future drilling will be scheduled based on the seven projects of the company in Nevada. Two of these projects are scheduled for drilling during 2012.
The Montelle trenching program was initiated during March to discover high grade gold. According to the plan around 8 holes covering an average distance of 670m and a strike length of 1.2km is expected to be completed by March. Assays which have a yield of more than 5 g/t Au will have more priority.
