North American Nickel Plans to Conduct Exploration at Maniitsoq Project

North American Nickel (NAN) has declared that plans for the exploration campaign to be carried out in August – September at the Maniitsoq project has been finalized. Field work and a proposed 2,000 m diamond drill program will be included in the exploration campaign.

North American Nickel (NAN) has announced that it has discovered fifty conductivity zones, many of which have extensive strike lengths, in preliminary data obtained from the VTEM plus helicopter time domain electromagnetic survey carried out over the company’s Maniitsoq project, Southwest Greenland.

Worldwide Nickel Output Reached 1.589 Million Tons in 2011

According to a new research report published by Reportlinker.com, the global nickel output increased 10% year-on-year (YoY) to 1.589 Mt in 2011 due to the VALE’s OnçaPuma and Anglo American’s Barro Alto nickel projects put into production and an enhanced output of nickel pig iron in China.

Awaruite Samples Found at Goodchild Drill Project

Drilling at the Ontario based Goodchild property of the Benton Resources Corp. has led to the discovery of the stainless steel nickel-iron alloy, awaruite. Seven samples embodying 45 m of the hydrothermally altered ultramafic materials sourced from the GC08-08 drill hole were examined at the Activation Laboratories Ltd, Ontario, by means of fusion x-ray fluorescence (XRF).
