Environmental activists are suing Kennecott Utah Copper over air pollution issues. The clean air groups have been saying that the Bingham copper mine being operated by Kennecott Utah Copper is kicking up too much dust and should be shut down.

Diamonds are not forever, at least not for BHP Billiton. The mining giant has decided to sell its stake in one of two diamond mining operations it is involved with in Canada.
After Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada finished the clean up at the Colomac gold mine site, mining company Merc International has acquired the property. The mine was previously owned by Royal Oak Mines when it went bankrupt.

Mining magnate and Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart, has reportedly invested close to $3 million in companies that are exploring coal in Mongolia.
Thor Mining has seen a gentle rise in its share prices since the company announced that mineralization at its Spring Hill gold project showed positive results. The announcement came after it shared its results of a diamond drilling exploration program at the site.
Uragold Bay Resources has completed the diamond drill campaign at the Beauce Placer property, which is situated near Saint-Simon-les-Mines in the Beauce area, south Quebec.
Manitou Gold has obtained the assay results from the diamond drilling program conducted at the Kenwest project, northwest Ontario. The position of the drill holes are along the newly identified gold-bearing sulphide zone located along the #2 Shear zone.

Eagle Plains Resources and its partners have completed the aerial geophysical survey conducted at the Kootenay area of British Columbia. The company flew 4,280 line-km over its different projects in the area.
Century Iron Mines has reported the phase II interim drilling results from its 51% owned Duncan Lake iron ore project.

Anglo American is planning to sell its stake in the Amapa iron ore project in northern Brazil. It is considering selling its majority stake in the project so that it can concentrate on the development of its Minas - Rio project in the south of Brazil.
Uranium mining in Virginia suffered a small set back from the long awaited report from the National Academy of Sciences. The report warned the Virginia legislature that it faced steep hurdles on its path to safely mining and processing uranium while protecting the general public and the environment.

Newcrest Mining is seeing its share value plunge this week after the grades at three of its mines in Australia were revealed to be diminishing. The shares came down 85 cents to rest at $30.22 on Tuesday, rising to $31.65 at midday Wednesday (AEST).
GeoMega Resources has reported the primary results from the phase II drill campaign conducted at the Montviel REE project, which is situated 97 km towards the northern part of Lebel-sur-Quévillon in Québec.
