Patriot Coal Corp. (NYSE:PCX) has temporarily halted production at its Rivers Edge mine in West Virginia. The mine authorities said that they had closed the mine to deal with a flooded area within the mine.

Continental Coal is set to see its thermal coal production and exports soar. The thermal coal exports for the company have risen by 52% compared to just three months ago. The South Africa focused miner says that its Ferreira Coal mine has lived up to the promises that it saw last quarter.

Equinox Minerals has beaten analysts estimates as it reported a fourth quarter profit. It also said that its full year copper output has surpassed its guidance. Equinox ended the year with $319,480 million in cash and cash equivalents.
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is set to take over 51% of all mines operating in the country, including foreign owned mines. The guidelines for mine ownership in Zimbabwe will be published on Friday and will take effect in a week’s time.
