LogiCamms Wins AUD$8.3 Million Rio Tinto Electrical Contract
LogiCamms has been chosen to conduct the initial phase of upgrade of electrical infrastructure at the Rio Tinto iron ore port assets in Western Australia.
The Australian engineering, project delivery and asset management company has been awarded two contracts worth Australian $8.3 million.
The contracts involve undertaking electrical and control system engineering designs to upgrade low voltage substations and associated facilities at Rio Tinto’s East Intercourse Island and Cape Lambert sites.
Rio Tinto reported a net profit of $7.5 billion in the first half of the 2011 calendar year. It is looking to upgrading the facilities it owns in Western Australia. The upgrades at the East Intercourse Island and Cape Lambert sites are likely to be completed within 18 months.
Additional works that Rio Tinto may contract out to LogiCamms would include associated electrical construction, and operational readiness activities on both these sites. These contracts are yet to be awarded.
