Anglo American is planning to sell its stake in the Amapa iron ore project in northern Brazil. It is considering selling its majority stake in the project so that it can concentrate on the development of its Minas - Rio project in the south of Brazil.
Uranium mining in Virginia suffered a small set back from the long awaited report from the National Academy of Sciences. The report warned the Virginia legislature that it faced steep hurdles on its path to safely mining and processing uranium while protecting the general public and the environment.

Newcrest Mining is seeing its share value plunge this week after the grades at three of its mines in Australia were revealed to be diminishing. The shares came down 85 cents to rest at $30.22 on Tuesday, rising to $31.65 at midday Wednesday (AEST).
