The government of Mongolia is hoping to gain a larger part of the Oyu Tolgoi mining project. The largest undeveloped copper mine in the world is to be developed by Ivanhoe Mines with Rio Tinto lending its expertise.

Medallion Resources Ltd has announced that it would be acquiring existing holdings of the reddish-brown phosphate mineral Monazite that contains rare earth metals as part of its new strategy. Medallion has also decided not to invest more funds into the exploration of the Eden Lake property in Manitoba, Canada.
Indian government-owned NMDC is to buy 50% stake in the Australian Legacy Iron Ore. The Rs 92 crores investment, roughly equal to Australian $19 million, will make it the first Navratna company to get into an overseas project of this magnitude.
