Avocet Mining has increased its estimates for mineral resources at the Inata gold mine by 59%. The gold mining company has previously said that the mine in Burkina Faso has resources of 3.36 million ounces of gold. The announcement pushed up the shares of the company by 10%
Canadian company Silvercorp Metals Inc is hoping to buy a 90% stake in two Chinese mining companies through its subsidiary company Henan Found Mining. The buyout will cost Silvercorp Metals $ 10 million. Silvercorp Metals has a 77.5 % stake in Henan Found Mining Company.
The African National Congress has been thinking about the nationalization of mines in South Africa for some time now, and it does not make the investors happy. While the South African ruling party has said that 26% of the mining industry ownership needs to be transferred to African owners by 2014, the investors fear that they may ask for more.

Selwyn Resources is to issue bonds to raise $ 30 million to restart the ScoZinc mine at Gays River in Nova Scotia. The mining at the zinc lead mine was suspended in 2009 as the metal prices fell and made the operations economically unviable.
Driven Capital has obtained the initial analytical results from its trenching and sampling program at the Lyn Silver project, which is located in Yukon’s Whitehorse Mining district.

EastCoal has completed 90% construction of the wash-plant for the Ukraine-based Verticalnaya mine. The company is expecting to ship the plant from the UK manufacturer in the upcoming month. It is preparing the ground work on site.

The greedy politicians are to blame for miners’ miseries in Tumkur and Chitradurga as per the mining industry. The Central Empowered Committee or CEC appointed by the Supreme Court of India has recommended a mining ban in both these mining districts as an extension of their July 29 th order which suspended mining in Bellary.

Xstrata has run into trouble with its expansion plans of the Wandoan coal mine in southern Queensland. Friend's of the Earth environmental group spokesperson Dr Bradley Smith said that they were opposed to what may end up as the largest coal mine in the southern hemisphere as it would emit 15% of the global emissions and impact the climate change seriously.
