Hunnu Coal has been granted a mining license from the Mineral Authority of Mongolia for its Tsant Uul Project. The mining license numbered MV - 016872 will be valid for an area covering 69,233 hectares of land for a period of 30 years.

The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO has warned the Tanzanian government against mining for uranium and conducting oil exploration in the region known as the Selous Game Reserve. This came in response to Natural Resources and Tourism minister Ezekiel Maige announcing that about 34,532 hectares of land was to be used for a $400 million uranium mine.

Hanlong Mining Investment wants to takeover Sundance Resources. The Chinese mining company is the largest shareholder of Sundance Resources holding 18% stake in the company. In the takeover bid it has offered a price of 50 cents a share.

Lucara Diamond is advancing the AK6 diamond mine construction located in Botswana, on time and has completed more than 60% of construction. The South Africa steel industry’s ongoing industrial action has delayed the delivery of steel for the project.

Lincoln Mining has commenced the core drilling program at its Mexico-based La Bufa project. The drilling program of about 4,500 to 5,000 m will be continuing for a few more months at the property’s northwest part.

The Fortescue Metals Group is now considering a listing on the Hong Kong or Shanghai stock exchanges as per its Chief Executive officer Andrew Forrest. The third largest iron ore mining firm in Australia has decided that it would be the best way to cement ties with steel mills in China.
AngloGold Ashanti has decided to sell about 390,000 square meters of its Savuka mining area to Blyvooruitzicht Gold Mining. The deal will bring cash to the tune of 35 million Rand (US$5.1 million) allowing the company to deal with their operating cash flow problems in the distressed DRDGold unit.
