Even as emerging mining company GTSO Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of Green Technology Solutions, works to develop new tungsten mining projects as far away as Africa, the company is also exploring a new way to extract rare and valuable minerals much closer to home through a process known as "urban mining."
Over the past 25 years, New York and New Jersey area BP station owners have provided over $2.5 million in scholarships to more than 1,700 promising students. This year, 185 local BP station owners will present a BP Fueling Communities grant donation of $100,000 that will provide 50 students with college scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic school year.
Amarc Resources Ltd. announces assay results from a further 20 delineation drill holes completed at the Newton gold discovery, south-central British Columbia. The new results from the Newton bulk tonnage gold system bring the total number of holes with important gold intercepts to 67. Delineation drilling of the Newton gold discovery commenced in late September 2011 and has progressed rapidly, with the completion of approximately 16,000 metres in 45 diamond drill holes (holes 11044 to 12088). Total drilling of the Newton deposit is now approximately 23,300 metres in 72 holes.
Enhanced Oil Resources has provided updates related to its operations for June. According to the earlier reports, the company intends expanding production and reserves via infill drilling at the Roosevelt County, New Mexico-based Milnesand oil field.

Midlands Minerals has provided the latest update on the activities being carried out on the Sian-Praso Gold Project. The company had commenced drilling at a depth of 5,900 m during May 2012 and has now provided an update on the issues that are outstanding in the project.
Independence Energy has provided the geological information for its exploration at the Coleman South Lease Joint Development Project in which it acquired a 12.5% working stake recently. The company also holds the option of increasing its stake to 25.0% for the same.

Scientists have produced a new free map app of the soils of Great Britain. The app, mySoil, also enables the general public to upload information about the soil where they live, helping to improve our knowledge about the properties of soils and the vegetation habitats that they provide.

MAX Resource Corp. has completed eight holes (872 meters) of the Phase III core drilling program at its Majuba Hill silver/copper/gold project in Nevada. Of these eight holes, the first hole (MM-21) was drilled to a depth of 351 m and tested the southeast extension of near-surface high-grade supergene oxide mineralization identified by Max at the historic Majuba Hill mine during 2011. The remaining seven holes followed up on the discovery hole (MM-18) at the DeSoto zone 1.4 km to the northwest, where MAX intercepted 29.2 m of 98.3 g/t Ag silver equivalent ("AgEq").
