Usibelli Coal has been granted permission to open its new coal mine in Canada. The Department of Natural Resources gave the company permits to open a new pit mine in the north east of Healy at the Jumbo Dome Mine.
Rio Tinto is now thinking of moving its ore transportation to driverless trains. The mining giant has lined up an investment of $518 million for such trains. It does cast a shadow on the future of its current 500 plus train drivers in the Pilbara region.
Caledonia Mining Corp is to divest 51% of its Blanket gold mine to Zimbabweans. The $30 million deal was announced on Monday. This agreement allows Caledonia to meet the new foreign ownership rules that came into effect in 2010 in Zimbabwe.
